Options

What are the options available to you to sort this mess out?

One option, which, is often overlooked but understandably difficult and not always applicable to some of us is to try and negotiate with the mother of your child, or the Parent With Care.

One way in which that may work for you is to write a letter sent by recorded mail asking if they are willing to come to a mutual agreement. In order for it to hold any meaning you would need to offer an incentive, this could be simply by stating that you intend to simply draft an Affidavit (a sworn statement under oath) detailing your agreement and to pay a reasonable and affordable amount that both parties agree on.

What this does is show commitment that you intend to pay and the agreement is a legally binding document giving them some degree of guarantee. It may of course not work for everyone but it is an option as the agreement can be made in such a way that you ask the PWC (mother) to write to the CSA/CMEC asking them to close your case and that they have come to a mutual agreement. As of October 2008, the CSA/CMEC allowed this option to be available but in order for it to work you will need to instil trust and provide some form of guarantee (the affidavit).

This at least removes the CSA and their ruthless action and allows you to deal with the matter direct.

We will update this and add to it a template soon...
